The International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) was established as a non-profit organization in the USA at January 1988 for the purpose of facilitating the training and certification needs of protection officers and security supervisors/managers from both the commercial and proprietary sectors. The European chapter of the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) was officially established as a non-profit organization in February 2006.

“Foundation for Professional Accreditation in the Private Security Sector”
The Foundation for Professional Accreditation in the Private Security Sector (SVPB) is the authority in the Netherlands that issues certificates and diplomas recognized as training in the Regulation on Private Security Firms and Detective Agencies (WPBR). These diplomas and certificates are part of the requirements for the issue of identity cards by a competent Chief of Police or the Commander of the Royal Military Police. Only on the basis of those credentials persons may be charged with security or investigative work in the private security industry.
All IS}F staff members involved in forensic investigations are registered and certified Private Investigators (PO).
